Being invited to a blogging-related beauty event is exciting! I think it’s one of those awesome perks you get to enjoy fully as a blogger, not to mention that you get to network yourself as a brand to other brands. With the beautypress Spotlight Day event falling on a Wednesday in February, I was able to attend as hubby was home and could pick the little bean up from school.
Although I was a little nervous travelling to NY on my own, I actually managed to get there just fine, without getting lost. Thank goodness for smartphones and Google maps!

It was such a magnificent experience and they’ve picked a lovely spot to hold the event also. An open plan loft near the Empire State Building. The setting was perfect and the atmosphere was welcoming plus I get to hang out with my friend Leslie from Bravenezz and also saw Jackie from Five Two Beauty.
There were over 125 editors who attended this event (divided into two sessions – AM/PM) and 15 exhibiting brands that we got to chat and interact with. I was given my name tag (with Sweet Jelly Bean on it) and an Editor Review Bag, filled with products and useful information I can use in my upcoming posts on the brands I’ve met.

This Spotlight Day hosted by beautypress is such an excellent idea of bringing quality brands and influencers under the same roof as it helps build rapport, creates new collaboration opportunities for beauty editors, like myself, and it makes the whole networking experience even more unforgettable.
Plus, it’s always great to ‘put a name to a face’.
