My first encounter of face serums was back in 2012 when I started using Klair’s Rich Soothing Serum. Being a complete newbie when it comes to skincare, I didn’t know how much serums can make a difference in improving your skin complexion and condition. As I said in my first serum post, your normal moisturizer can only penetrate the first layer of your skin, whereas serums can reach all three layers. In other words, it will work better and gives more results. Which brings us to my next serum favourite, OST Pure Vitamin C20 Serum.
Most serums I came across online only contain between 5-15% of Vitamin C and with a hefty price tag. OST Pure Vitamin C20 Serum on the other hand, has at least 20% Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) concentration, which makes it highly potent and is more effective compare to others with less percentage. Makes sense. And it’s only $24.99 at 30ml!
6000mg Vitamin C in 1 bottle. It is same as 200pcs of tangerines.
Price: $24.99, 30ml
Being it my first time to use this type of serum, I had my reservations and was afraid that it could break me out, the feeling I get most of the time with new products. Life of a beauty blogger, I’m telling you. It’s fun, exciting or just more breakouts LOL.
PACKAGING & PRESERVATION
Now this product came in this properly sealed bottle with a separate dropper. To preserve the effectiveness of this serum, you need to refrigerate it. Keep it cool!
The tinted black glass packaging is to prevent it from oxidizing and must be kept away from the light. Now, the very best way to do it, is to store this in its box, it’s light and moisture-proof.
Unfortunately, as everything was written in Korean, I didn’t know right away until later :(, but now you do. :-p
You only require at least 2-3 drops to cover your face, and it’s best applied once you’ve done the basic step of skincare, cleanse and tone.
OST Pure Vitamin C20 Serum claims to:
• Revitalize • Remove dead skin cells • Whiten • Tighten pores • Recover trouble scars • Remove blackheads
FIRST IMPRESSION
When applied for the first time, there’s this stinging sensation. And iff your skin is quite sensitive or on a bad case of breakout, this will really sting a little bit. It has a runny consistency and will feel sticky on application. This goes away almost instantly as it gets absorbed by your skin. The smell reminds me so much of my little bean’s vitamins syrup!
It offers a refreshing and cooling effect on your skin. Skin will feel tight, smooth and has that silky feeling. Although I should point out that it might not be as comfortable for those with dry to very dry skin due to the tightness after effect. But, with the right moisturizer, I’m sure this won’t be an issue for you. This is perfect to complete your day and night time skincare regimen.
NOTICEABLE EFFECTS
No more breakouts! Skin feels rather supple, brighter and smoother, especially when you wake up first thing in the morning.
I wouldn’t say hands down to this serum 100%, due to the preservatives included in the formula (which basically helps preserve the ingredients effectivity and longer shelf-life) but the positive effects are undeniable. It might be best to check the list of ingredients to make sure that this is the right one for you.
In my case, I felt the difference right after using it for just 1 week, so this turnaround was pretty impressive. I was using this along with Skin & Lab C Plus Brightening Cream — see review here. And this two is just the perfect combo. Vitamin C overload? It’s amazing!
