I’m never the brave one who could strut straight into a department store and head for the cosmetic stalls. I always feel awkward having to say ‘no, I’m just looking’ so many times. I tend to avoid that eye to eye contact from a watchful sales lady. Especially when I have to give that timid smile to say ‘no, honestly I’m just looking, please don’t follow me’. I think that just adds to the awkward factor. What happens to enjoyable and peaceful shopping, huh?
This time around though, I was really looking for something (not just window shopping) with baby in tow. Thank goodness little bean was in his best behavior and just strolled along with me.
Now I wouldn’t have expected for this Guerlain makeover to happen because I was only looking for a lipstick, but when I met this lovely beauty advisor at House of Fraser in Guerlain section, I just couldn’t say no. She’s definitely not one of those pushy sales lady I was talking about above. She was soft-spoken, she looked like she knew what she was doing, and most of all, I really enjoyed the experience.
I went out looking a little plain with just a bit of lip colour using my Youngblood Dragon Fruit lipstick (a summer fave!) as I was such in a rush, with my hair tied up. That seems to be the norm these days with all this heat!
I’ve learnt a thing or two from this makeover. Not only did Charlotte (that’s her name) introduce me to Guerlain for the first time (never tried their products before!), she also shared a few tips and tricks on applying bronzer and I was really wowed. She definitely know her stuff! I normally would have gone for a pink or peach blush but she managed to sway me to try their Terracota bronzer line and the result was just amazing! Now I’m excited to give this bronzer my good friend Lu (from Beauty Expression gave me not long ago) a try — I just need a good brush! Must remember: figure of 3 for an instant contour/blush-on with a bronzer.
So, beauties, this ‘makeover to remember’ comes along with Guerlain products lust-list, which I will be ticking off along the way.
And the outcome?
Pardon the lightning girls, I took them using my phone at the very end of the day but you can still see how the bronzer gave me that amazing glow. And I think I really love it. It got my other half’s thumbs up, so that says a lot. Haha.
Now my next mission: a goo blotting paper! LOL.
