Hi there! This is Bethany from Beauty-Junkie.net.
Recently the lovely Donah asked me if I’d like to guest post on Sweetjellybean.com. Of course, I was beyond flattered, because she produces such high quality content herself. She asked me to give you all an Autumn themed post. It’s Spring in Australia right now, but there have been so many drool-worthy Autumn releases and trends for 2013 that I jumped at the chance to discuss some of my fall favourites with you…
Let’s start with the lips. When I think Autumn, I immediately think of sexy, vampy lips in daring shades like mauve and burgundy. Let your Summer pastels have a rest and rock something more sultry this season.
If you’ve got warm-toned skin, aim for purple-red lipsticks that have orange undertones as they’re the most flattering. If you’ve got cool-toned skin like mine, shades that lean blue will complement you best.
Of course, bold lips are not for everyone and not always office friendly. Never fear – Korean brand Innisfree has a solution. Their new Glossy Lip Lacquer range (review here) offers a more work-friendly opacity with a non-sticky formula that you’ll fall in love with. Shade #5 Deep Plum Burgundy and #6 Maple Burgundy Pink are bang on trend.

Now we’ve got the lips sorted, we can move onto the eyes. You can go one of two ways with eye-shadow. If you want to keep the focus on a pair of seriously pouty berry lips, sport a more natural eye look by sticking to neutral shades. Gold is another safe but slightly flashier option for those who want their eyes to sparkle.
If you can’t even imagine going without a dramatic eye (I’ve only recently been converted to neutrals, myself), you’re in luck: this season’s love for all things dark extends to eye shadow too. Smoky eyes in blue or black make a bold statement. If you want to push things a little further, try sporting a dark red or mauve wash of colour over your lids.
Etude House’s & Rose Autumn Collection includes a rather gorgeous Flowering Eyes palette that contains both neutrals and some striking burgundy eye-shadows for the best of both worlds. The shadows are beautifully pigmented and don’t crease throughout the day.

Another important part of eye make-up is eye-liner. For those of you who prefer a more simple routine, changing up your eye-liner for Autumn is perfect for a subtle change. Smoking out your liner a little will lend you an air of sultriness but if that’s not your thing, why not add a pop of colour instead?
Last season, Etude House introduced a set of brilliantly creamy Drawing Show eye-liner pencils as a part of their Color Pop collection. They come in perfect colours for Fall and can now be bought as a set. The orange and berry colours are gorgeous.

Finally, back on the Western front, we have nails. Are you sick of purple yet? I hope not, because – you guessed it – it’s big again this Autumn. If you’re over purple, ox blood is still trending.
Want to go a little brighter? Think Fall leaves. They come in a dazzling array of reds, oranges and golds. Any of these colours can complete an Autumn look.
For something simple but effective, try painting your nails a dark purple or red (OPI’s Hearts & Tarts, for instance), then layering a glittery gold with red flecks (try Essence Gold Fever) over the top. Or, if you’re feeling slightly more ambitious, try applying it as a gradient.
Q: What colours and trends are you embracing this Autumn?
