Stumbling across Revlon’s newest addition to its beauty family, Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm (in Vivacious) and it’s sassy cousin Matte (in Shameless), this lip crayon saga sent the beauty-holics abuzz. Are these permanent? Are these in-store? I can’t find them anywhere!!?? Yes, some of us were pretty much in a beauty panic state.
So today, I wanted to give you an idea of what Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Vivacious has in it for you. Is it worth $6+, $8+ or $9+? (Prices vary – you might want to raid Harmon’s Face Values since they’re the cheapest so far — unless you find a store with a deal going on, like CVS for instance.)
When it comes to makeup products, I can be your late bloomer. I don’t just grab and go whenever I see hyped-up products on Facebook or on my blog feeds. In fact, most of the time I try to shy away from them and hold tight to my purse.
Of course there are exceptions, products that really tickle my fancy, if you like. I get curious, and next thing I know, I’m staring at it on my vanity desk with glee and excitement as to when I’m going to rip the packaging up. But I don’t. Because I’m a beauty blogger and need to take pics first. Ha ha. Come on, I’m sure you can relate.
I didn’t jump all over Revlon’s Lip Butter wagon or their Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain last year, when everyone swore by them. But speaking of exception, Revlon finally caught my attention this time with Colorburst two different finishes – Lacquer and Matte. You’ll meet Matte in Shameless tomorrow, so stay tuned.
Today, is about Vivacious, its bright & bold shade and minty-liciousness. I love that the packaging is also lacquered up, not just the name. Swivel up means no need to sharpen and that is always a bonus.
What gives its glossy effect are the embedded tiny particles (and I mean really, really tiny – I noticed it while doing heavy swatches on my hand) that help reflect light. Ever wonder how much product are in those lip crayons? See for yourself.
Pigmentation is somewhat impressive and this lasted me a good 4 hours with drinking juice/water involved. But this did not survive a greasy meal.
NOT MUCH OF A GLOSSY FAN? THEN SEE REVLON’S MATTE LIP BALM IN SHAMELESS HERE.
Due to its balmy texture, it doesn’t feel drying, but if you’re worried that your lips might need more protection this winter, I would consider using a lip balm first. Plus, this makes the application even much easier, since the product will glide better.
If you love this type of product, a fan of anything Revlon or want a new lip crayon ( the selection of colors are amazing by the way), then you want this in your handbag. And rumor has it that this indeed will be joining the rest of Revlon’s collection so if you’ve not checked your nearest CVS, Harmon’s Face Values, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Ulta etc… you might be missing out on their arrival…finally!
Note: Bought this at Harmon’s Face Values for $6.99 (w/o tax)
