em cosmetics creamy matte lipstick in Bachelorette is supposed to be different from your regular matte lipsticks since it has the creamy factor and rich conditioners (formula) to help protect your lips from drying out and still achieve the sought after ‘matte effect’ finish.
But since the lipstick comes at a price, too, you have to find out whether this is what you’re looking for or not, right? Check out below swatches and my personal experience on Bachelorette creamy matte lipstick by em.
(For those who requested the Great Cover Up Concealer review, that will follow next week, so bear with me ladies)
Part of my em cosmetics haul last year, I finally get round to wearing this on few occasions to test it out. To be honest, I felt somewhat disappointed that the shade did not match to em cosmetics website. The picture I think is nowhere near :-(. But before buying this, I did read the reviews about accuracy issues but I just wasn’t sure if it’s the same with Bachelorette or not.
With my swatches, em cosmetics Bachelorette true shade looks darker in comparison to the website’s pictures and can be considered as deep fuchsia pink ( or hot pink ). And may add, this is buildable so don’t be shy to go bold. Otherwise, you can always opt for em’s pillow plush cushiony lip balm. 😉
In their lip gallery, they have swatches for fair, medium and dark skin tones (bottom right of their page) and the closest match of this lipstick color would be the swatches on dark skin tone (I have medium skin tone). So please bear this in mind when purchasing any lip products from their site.
All my swatches below are taken with natural lighting and no filter involved. I also think that the lipstick packaging is adorable and surprisingly heavy and looks like it won’t shatter into pieces if dropped accidentally.
(update: my little bean did drop this on the floor! Glad to say, it didn’t break)
em cosmetics claims Bachelorette to be a creamy, matte lipstick and thank goodness that it seems to be true and less drying compare to a few matte lipsticks I own, like my MAC in Candy Yum Yum and Moxie. As much as I love these MAC shades, they can be very drying to my lips and I put them aside during the winter months. And yes I’ve tried using it with a lip balm first.
With em cosmetics Bachelorette, I don’t even have to use a lip balm because it looks matte yet feels creamy when applied and has the moisturizing/hydrating factor.
I also find it quicker and easier to apply this with a lip brush to get much better precision on the edges and just fill in using the lipstick itself to finish off. It’s not an everyday shade definitely but it’s something you might want to pull out from your bag if you feel like a change of scenery. 🙂
I get at least 4-5 hours of wear time with minimal fading and no feathering while expect a slight stain leftover after a meal and drinks. Unfortunately, when put to a bubble tea drinking test, Bachelorette did not survive LOL. Curious that, huh?
To give you an idea on its color intensity (and since I didn’t have any similar shade) I compare this to Candy Yum Yum and Moxie. You might notice that em cosmetics Bachelorette contains tiny glittery particles as well, which I’m not sure if it makes any difference on my lips O.o
So, if you’re feeling adventurous or a big fan of bright, pink colors, then Bachelorette might be for you. Whenever I wear this shade, I keep the look very minimal, like BB cream only, a slight color on my cheeks and I’ll let this lipstick do the rest.
em cosmetics creamy matte lipsticks cost $15 each excluding tax & shipping. And the good news, they now ship internationally. I paid around $11 with tax & shipping with mine last year because of the big sale! 😀
