Every once in a while, I feel the need to challenge myself — nail art wise. I get my tools out, pick the appropriate nail polish shades and set the mood to decorate. The funny thing though, most designs always look amazing in my head I can’t wait to get started but once on my nails, they end up looking crappy! Who’s with me on this? I treat this as one of my bad ‘nail’ days.
Today however, I think I might have nailed it with two of my summer inspired nail art designs. And I’m curious what you think of them. Some of you have seen the first nail art, but the latter, I’ve yet to share.
First up is ‘Sprinkles’. Inspired by a conversation I had with my hubby about donuts and sprinkles. I’ve been banned from eating them. 😥 So I decided to just paint my nails instead.
The base polish is Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in Water Orchid. I’m all about lilac all year round and this shade is one of my favorites this season. Thanks Sally!
Next up is this colorful ‘Floral Bloom’, which I got the inspiration from looking at my new customized iPhone case from Mr Nutcase. (Will cover more on this in my upcoming review post for Mr Nutcase).
I was actually surprised how this came out in the end. I didn’t expect much and just kept on painting.
The thing about nail art is that, I never go down without a fight even if it means rubbing off one design after another. It’s trial and error and can be time consuming but also rewarding if you get it right. Just make sure to wash the dishes first.
I used Revlon’s Gel Envy nail polish in Sure Thing as my base. Seriously, if you’ve not tried this range yet, you need to check it out and grab at least one or two. Try Wild Card.
And if you’re up for a colorful challenge this week, give one of these designs or even both a go and share with us. It’s summer so you should have fun, starting from your nails!
For a smooth nail art session, have a lemonade on the side (to drink, of course), and these nail art tools to make things easier:
You should be able to find these tools in your local drugstore or online. I got mine from BornPretty Store. You can find the brushes HERE or a similar pointy/rounded tip dotting tool in one HERE. (To save 10% off your order, please use promo code: WEETX31)
Q: So, which one do you like more? Sprinkles or Floral Bloom?
