1. I’m very intrigued (I’m sure my readers are also) how the name Nail Honey came about? I think it’s pretty sweet!
Well, thank you! Honestly, I brainstormed for months yet Nail Honey was the first thing that came to mind. I wanted a name that was bee related since most people call me “Bee” for short & I have an incredible appreciation for nature and gardening, so I felt like Nail Honey would be fitting.
After doing research, I found out people used to use honey in polish making, so that pretty much solidified the name for me! I’ve actually used local honey while making polishes for myself and it actually helps keeping your nails stain-free when using certain colors. 🙂

2. And that adorable ‘bee’ design/logo – please tell us more about it?
When I first started Nail Honey, I really wanted to create it from the ground up. I would look at tons of bee pictures when I was coming up with my logo and since I knew the bee I chose would eventually become labels, I didnt want any copyright issues.
So one day, I begged my little brothers, who were both students at Parsons Design School at the time, to help me create an original bee for my logo. As seniors in college they didn’t have the extra time so one of them asked their girlfriend, who was also a Parsons student, to help me out and I agreed to pay her in polish! She thought that was a win-win, so we came up with my logo together.
I really wanted something simple, yet unique and I think we ended up doing a pretty good job! I actually plan on getting my bee logo tattooed this year.
Creating Nail Honey was truly a life changing experience and something I want to cherish for the rest of my life.
3. What can nail polish-aholics fans expect from your ‘customized your own lacquer service’ and does the price vary?
Actually Nail Honey started as a “custom-only” indie line. It’s still my favorite part of polish making! As NH started growing, I began making collections but came up with #BYOP ( Build Your Own Polish) so my girls knew that is still an option.
One thing I can promise is that anybody who has/will purchase a custom from me will absolutely love it. I make anything from glitter bombs to textured polishes! I also interact with my “Honey Bee’s” as I’m working on their polished and update them with pictures to make sure it’s exactly what they want.
So they really get the chance to truly design any polish they can come up with. Ive recently done polishes for wedding parties and made an exact match of her wedding accent color, that she called me crying! She was that excited!!! My customs range from $7.50 – $9.50, depending on the type of polishes they want made. And for first-timers, I offer a 20% discount for trying it out!
4. If you can give 3 tips to us nail loving fans when it comes to buying indie polishes, what would it be?
Good question! I honestly believe it differs from indie to indie, but over anything I would say polish quality is the most important to me. Asking around the indie community seems to be the best way to figure that out before purchasing.
I’d also pay attention to the detail in packaging and the products themselves. What makes indies so unique is the fact that they are handmade and I love sending notes with orders and love when other indies take the time to do the same.
I’d also say to interact with the indie maker herself, if you get the opportunity and to not be afraid to ask questions about their polishes. I’ve met some amazing women through the indie community and I love answering questions and building relationships with my customers. I truly appreciate the friendships we’ve all forged through our nail polish obsession! Hehe
5. And last but not the least, how often do you add new collection or products to your site and anything new we should know about?
About every 4-6 weeks. I have some limited time collections and I also make polishes that stay in my shop year around. Sometimes I’ll make a polish for fun then post a picture of it on IG, and will end up adding to my shop the same day! I’m constantly creating and practicing so I’m always updating the shop!

All I’m going to say is that, I don’t mind being paid in polish either!
Check out her shop and browse all her nail polish collection, and if you’re feeling like treating yourself, go ahead and BYOP! And just an FYI, Nail Honey isn’t just about nail polishes, she’s also added lipsticks for us makeup fanatics. Hence I couldn’t resist but bought two lipsticks along with the nail polishes as well. Will be doing the swatches separately, so stay tuned!
