It’s no secret that bloggers probably spend more time on social media than the average Joe or Jane. You have your phone with you at all times, notifications set and alongside non-stop scrolling on your social media feed whenever you get the chance. Even getting a few sneaks while at work! Admit it.
So here’s the thing, why not make the most of this and start promoting your blog while you’re at it? It has to be the easiest way and proven to be effective in getting your name out there since companies, brands and active influencers these days are very well-connected. It’s your chance to get acknowledge by what you’re good at and the time is now!
So here are five no-brainer ways to promote yourself or your blog on social media at no extra cost! Just be efficient with time and get your social media takeover strategy rolling!
- Like that post
While you’re scrolling your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter because you’re on your break or just absolutely bored, don’t forget to like that post. We get notified when you do so and sometimes we just can’t help to check out who’s visited us or gave us the double tap. Discover and get discovered!Tip: In case you didn’t know, you can also turn on notifications for a specific account, who you feel has that extra spunk and more to offer and you don’t want to miss their posts.
- Comment away
If there’s one thing that’s been proven to work like a charm, that has to be interaction through comments or feedbacks. Share what your opinion is on the subject, especially if you have something nice to say. It’s an effective way to connect without being too in your face of ‘hey, check me out here, too!’ - Repost/Regram it
This is, in social media terms, going the extra mile of getting brownie points. There are many reasons why you want to repost or regram someone else’s post and it’s all good! If you think something is share-worthy to your followers, by all means, do so!Although I’m aware that others might not go down this route since they like to keep their page exclusive, but occasional regramming about your favorite brand’s new releases or fan-girling over a Youtuber or blogger’s makeup look, nail art or beauty collection, certainly doesn’t hurt. - Tag them!
If you’re not tagging your pictures or mentioning brands on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even on Pinterest when posting, then you’re doing it wrong! Don’t be afraid. Technically speaking, you are advertising on their behalf (for free) and I think they have the right to know. Share-worthy photos tend to get reposted or liked by brands or sometimes commented on. Oh happy day!
Posted a photo during CHICSTUDIOS NY Event with @ourfazinali. - Hashtag it the right way
This is the hashtag era, deal with it! It’s how images and all types of posts these days get around so if you’re not on board yet, hop in! The good news is, Instagram, specifically, has made useful changes in terms of which tags are used frequently and what will work best with your posts so you don’t have to # anything that might actually be irrelevant and waste of space. Plus, it’s not aesthetically pleasing when all we can read are hashtags on the caption. Let’s say, hashtag moderately!
Tip: I love checking Iconosquare for tips on what hashtags are trending and what I’ve been using more – including the irrelevant ones. Oops. Not only that, this site also gives you tips on how to optimize your posts by knowing the best times to post and how your audience is interacting overall.
