Let’s talk about chambray; this season’s go-to darling fabric.
Soft, lightweight, and offers a comfortable fit, chambray looks just as good as its grown-up cousin, denim. You’ll find so many stylish versions of chambray right now, even fall-appropriate ones. From the classic button-up, shirt dress, off-the-shoulder tops, to rompers of many lengths, it’s undeniable that the fashion industry is having a chambray moment.
I picked up my off-the-shoulder chambray mini dress not long ago because I found the design fashionable and weather-perfect. The lightweight and cool material makes the summer heat bearable and to elongate my (short) legs; I took my pair of metallic wedge espadrilles for a spin.
I wanted to create an outfit without overwhelming the dress with tons of accessories, so I opted for a dainty necklace by Shashi instead, which has a gem that happens to be my birthstone. I find this connection very captivating when it comes to choosing my accessories. I love anything that has a story behind it. That personal connection is essential for me.
And speaking of personal, when I’m not all girly in a dress and heels, I find comfort in a graphic tee that promotes a positive lifestyle and enough to empower others like the ones here. I would pair it with my latest obsession, Mom jeans with stylish slip-on shoes. That sums up my casual meets comfort style as well.
To keep things complementary with each other, and keep the off-the-shoulder chambray dress still the focal point, instead of a floppy wide-brimmed hat, I went for a straw fedora hat with a contrast trim. Probably the only statement piece that’s noticeable here would be my oversized sunglasses.
Of course, to break the ice and keep things interesting, I added a bold shade of color on my lips, grabbed my Nine West floral tote, and finished things off with a stylish timepiece from Grayton Watches.
For me, this was a feel-good outfit that I wouldn’t mind wearing again but with different accessories, perhaps with a long pendant necklace, or a beaded cluster type that sits just right on top of my collarbone to add more drama. For this style, I would probably switch my wedge sandals for a pair of gladiators with tassel or pom-pom details like this one.
Ahh, the possibilities are endless.
