It’s been a while since I saw the sun showing itself first thing in the morning. Normally, we’d wake up on a rather gloomy sky. Today, it’s different. And in a beautiful way! I can definitely smell spring in the air. It has finally crept in and giving me boost physically and mentally plus a happy face! Although this season came a little bit later than usual, we can now breath that sigh of relief, that it won’t be White Spring after all! Freezing temperatures and snow trickling the last few days, it’s unbelievable.
So hello, how have you been? Sweet Jelly Bean’s journey has not been smooth sailing of late due to life’s commitments taking place and just have to take the top of to-do list. But I want to say thank you to my wonderful readers who are still perusing my posts, old and recent ones. I’d been meaning to bring fresh content, but can’t get a hold of time, and rather than rushing the post (and it will show!) just to submit another blogging material, I did something else during my free time.
Thank goodness for quiet time though, I was able to do some blog spring cleaning here and there! Who says that it’s only your house or car that can have some sparkly time? You’d be surprised what a quick touch up on old posts, tidying up your sidebar, a make over for your homepage (from header to footer) or a simple blog tweak can do, traffic wise. Take it as your Spring cleaning challenge and give it a go.
Here’s how I did mine:
1. Find out your most read/viewed content — and start from there!
The Stats tool is not only there to give you numbers, but a way to let you know what your readers really love to read around your blog. And start the spring-cleaning on these posts. Learn which social networks referrers are bringing those clicks on your links! This is also important later on when re-sharing your post from the archives.
2. Check for typos and grammatical errors!
Been there, done that. There’s just no way of telling sometimes but, take another look on your old posts (based on #1), and I bet you, there are some typos there that you’ve completely missed. Don’t just let it be. Correct it!
3. Update your old content — do a new link up!
Omit any irrelevant information, special offers that have expired, or information that is now obsolete. And just because it’s an old post, it doesn’t mean that it’s really old! It might be related to your new ones, so link it up — it’s one way of reviving the old one and driving traffic to both posts connected. You’ll see!
4. Declutter your sidebar
Save your readers the ‘going cross-eyed’ moment when reading your posts by tidying up your sidebar a little. Delete any unnecessary links and for the love of blogging, refrain from putting lots of moving images there! Keep it in moderation (if you really can’t help it) because sometimes, it can interfere with reading and will just make your blog look too busy for all the wrong reasons.
5. Add new/fresh/themed content!
Something I’m trying to do right about now — see end of post! We all settle with our little routine and we forget that to liven things up, we can also throw in fresh, never-done-before content (but please keep the relevance to your blog!), say Spring-inspired post, what’s in or out themed post or anything that might float your readers boat or little shout outs for your favourite blogs. Mix things up. Seriously, it’s what makes blogging even more fun and exciting.
And don’t forget…
SHARE them again across your social networks or tag in your current post! Make the context of sharing catchy! Make it effective by doing an engaging approach when wording things. I’m sure you have that creativeness in you. The spring is here, let it inspire you!

Happy Spring All!
