If you’re into makeup, especially lip products, 2nd Love Cosmetics might have something for you at surprisingly reasonable prices and perhaps on par with drugstore brands in terms of quality, if not better. Just a heads up, this is a picture-heavy post.
I went to research more about this brand having heard of them the first time and found out that 2nd Love Cosmetics is the creation of a 2nd generation cosmetics company based in sunny Los Angeles, California. They offer a wide range of beauty products, from makeup, nail polish, tools to skin care selection that cater to suit all skin types and ages, with prices starting from $2.99.

I received an army of seven products, which are more than enough to help me create a complete look for the day but in today’s post, I will highlight their lip collection first.
Concealer Foundation 01 Light, Corrector Creme 04 Green, Pout Plumping Lip Gloss (Love Letter), Velvet Gloss 05, Rose Mascara, Quick Stick Cream Blush (Bashful) and Luxe Lace (Lavish)
I was overwhelmed and did not know where to begin, then wait… I’m a lip junkie, so let’s start with that!
Intrigued by its name, Plumping Lip Gloss in Love Letter got swiped first. This sheer lip gloss has a minty flavor just the way I like it. As for plumping action or say tingling sensation, there wasn’t much of this happening.
The scent is not overpowering in case you’re not a mint fan, and aside from it not giving my lips the ‘just bitten’ feel, this lip gloss is actually not bad and find myself reaching out for this often. It’s not sticky and it makes my lips feel smooth with a hint of color. I use this alone or layer it on top of my favorite lipstick for the extra shine.
I really wondered why I was sent two lip glosses until I applied 2nd love Cosmetics Velvet Gloss (05) on my pout. Wow, this one is an unexpected show stealer for me. This is not your ordinary gloss, to say the least.
Picture below shows Velvet Gloss in 05 with Plumping Lip Gloss in Love Letter
First pic shows Velvet Gloss 05 only while the next pic, I’ve combined Plumping Lip Gloss over.
It reminds me a lot of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream and I love the almost nude, peach shade finish. It’s glossy-like when applied with nice color payoff and then it dries matte. And once it does, there’s no budging or flaking.
But with the current condition of my lips feeling drier than usual due to the cold, I had to layer it with Plumping Lip Gloss as the matte finish felt too dry in the end. It worked like a charm and made the Velvet Gloss shade prettier. This survived a bubble tea drinking challenge, but not when I went to have a big bowl of ramen chow down. Regardless, I think it’s impressive that the color stayed on after sipping the bubble tea especially when most lipsticks I’ve tried before would completely disappear!

2nd Love Cosmetics team are either mind readers or have been stalking me on social media because they seem to know I have a weakness for lip products.

Luxe Lace Lipstick in Lavish is your bright pink beauty with blue undertones. You can easily build the color up as you desire and it reaches opacity even in one full swipe.
This contains Vitamin E and Jojoba and has a creamy, almost butter-y formula, which feels hydrating and applies beautifully without feeling heavy on my lips.. It’s one of the shades that you can wear alone and expect to stand out! Luxe Lace is available in 12 luxurious and high impact shades.
Plumping Lip Gloss costs $4.99 and Luxe Lace Lipstick costs $5.59. After double checking their website, it seems Velvet Gloss is currently out of stock, which is a bummer.
