I’m on the ipsy wagon! My first ipsy November glam bag arrived about a week ago. Well, the glam room kinda spoiled the surprise for me when I accidentally opened it (couldn’t look away!!) and saw what was in my bag before it actually arrived. Haha.
I waited for about a month or so before getting a confirmation that I’m on the list! But what got me even more excited was when ipsy decided to include Michelle Phan’s new makeup line em cosmetics into the glam bag, which I’m sure the majority of us must have heard of or seen already. I’ve been wanting to try her line for a while now and I thought this ipsy glam bag is a good way to start.
At $10 you can’t really go wrong, in my opinion, especially for first timers like me. Ok, perhaps it’s understandable to hear frustrated ipsters who have subscribed for a while and get the same brand popping up in their glam bags. I would probably feel the same.
This month’s bag comprises of 5 full-sized products and one eyeshadow sampler from bh cosmetics (that cute Galaxy Chic purple box you’re seeing in the pic) and all products were stuffed in this bling makeup bag. I have to admit though, I was expecting to get an em lipstick or the pillow plush lip balm at least, but I’d settle with em lash gallery mascara for now.
So here’s what I got in my ipsy November glam bag including their RRP (so we know how much we’re saving here):
1. Nailtini nail polish in Champagne ($12)
Described as ‘a classic frosted nude’ or icy golden, perfect for the holiday season but an everyday wear? Not too sure. I don’t own this shade so I was curious to see how it looks when applied. Not the biggest fan of its finish but I must point out that this applied well and the fact that Nailtini is a 3-free nail lacquer. That’s always a big plus in my books.
2. Em Cosmetics Lash Gallery Dramatic Volume in Black ($20)
I have very sensitive eyes and was worried that this would irritate me or leave me in tears (most mascaras have this effect on me and it’s rather annoying — smudges everything on the way!) But I have to say, I think Michelle has a great product here. I’ll do a comparison in terms of its volume power & clump-free features with two other mascaras I currently use in my next post. Perhaps I’ll throw in an FOTD if I can?
3. Be A Bombshell in Shameless ($14)
What are the chances of me getting another lip crayon and named Shameless at that? Although this shade is very different from Revlon’s Shameless Matte Balm since this one is burgundy with shimmer. This glossy lip crayon has a smooth texture and I didn’t have any problem applying the product or worry about feathering. The only turn off would be the smell, it’s not powdery-ish scent, more like ‘old’ kinda scent, if that makes sense. Or maybe that’s just me? Be A Bombshell is cruelty-free.
4. BH Cosmetics Baked Eyeshadow in Sun (sample)
It wasn’t love at first sight with this product but after swatching it, I ended up liking this eyeshadow! It just had this holiday cheer all over it and this was very easy to blend. Have you tried anything from this brand?
5. Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil in Amethyst ($14)
If you’re into metallic finish and love a soft-textured eye pencil that’s easy to blend, then you will probably like Amethyst, which happens to be my birthstone. ^^ It’s very rare for me to sport something metallic and if it happens, it’s probably for special occasion. Starlooks products are also cruelty-free.
6. Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched ($18 and comes with a kabuki brush on their site)
Your medium honey tan for that sunkissed complexion whatever the weather is. Not that I needed another bronzer to be honest and so far, I’m not getting that hydrating or silky smooth from this product based on its description. Anyone fancy a bronzer? LOL.
If we do the math, this would have been around $78 if products were purchased on its own and I doubt that it would come in a bling bag. I’d say it’s my $10 well-spent and in case you’re not an ipster yet, you’re more than welcome to join by clicking here. I get ipsy points if you do subscribe and I think that would give me a bonus item in my next glam bag. So thank you, in advance. 😀
