I had this little conversation with my hubby the other day where I started reciting a list of things that I wanted to do in 2014 and he asked, you’re not doing a New Year’s resolution list, are you? Because you know, why wait for 2014, when you can just start doing them now?
And you know what, there’s definitely truth in that and I’m probably guilty as well for not sticking to whatever New Year’s resolution I set myself this year, not that I can remember what they were!
So today, why don’t I share with you some of the things that I will be ticking off sooner rather than later?
Losing Weight
There’s really not much of an excuse on this as to why I’m still struggling to shed a few pounds but the word ‘lazy’ . Ha-ha. I’ve felt so demotivated the last few months and only just started sweating things off this month with Wii Fit and eating much better and healthier. And guess what, I’m feeling good knowing that since I started, I have lost 1.5lbs — that’s a step right?
If you have any more tips, feel free to throw it at me, I have until end of the month to reach my goal! Pressure much? LOL
Get cracking’ with Korean language, or Hangul
Over the past years, my fascination towards Hangul has skyrocketed and with blogging in play, there’s even more exposure to it. I can pretty much recognize the Hangul chart or alphabets and I was able to write my name at one point. With my current job as Affiliate Consultant (started few months ago, in case you didn’t know) at wishtrend.com, I’m even more inclined to learn the language, because you never know, I could be stepping in Seoul and need to mingle around and saying annyeonghaseyo*.
Oh yeah, I should mention, I’m a big K-drama fan, I listen to K-pop (Sistar, one of my fave girl group, add U-Kiss and 2pm to that as well as Kara) and don’t even bring Korean food into this — the thought of it is making me hungry already.
A Hairy Dilemma
This one is quite a sensitive, long subject and I almost mean this in a literal way, not to mention I’m feeling a little bit shy about it as well.
But here goes, I was born blessed with hair, and I mean I can sport a lady ‘stache if I want to and go Movember every day, my legs and arms could go Big Foot (read: too hairy) if not shaved or wax in time. Say 3 weeks, I’m Mrs Big Foot again. Yes, it’s rather frustrating and shaving is definitely not my forte. Think cuts and lots of it, not to mention it takes forever to do, and when you have a 2 year old wanting your attention, there’s never a relaxing shaving session. So, it’s either I go to my salon for a rigorous waxing appointment, crossing my fingers I don’t get burn, suffer infection while having to spend almost $100 for it!
Ahh, I so miss going to Relax A Vous while in the UK, I could never find that same more hygienic waxing treatment here in the US.
And then it dawned to me $100+ on waxing every 3 weeks or so? Why don’t I just consider hair removal? Because you know, this is actually a much better, highest percentage, guaranteed hair-free option in the long run, right? Not to mention that there is now a pain-free alternative. Because apparently, laser hair removal can also get painful and uncomfortable (no pain no gain) but behold, you can now go pain-free, hair free. Ever heard of the Soprano Family? No, not that TV Show. And don’t worry, UK/Europe has this so called Soprano XL too, for your hair removal needs.
For the last year or so, I’ve been looking into this and scouring the web for information and although you really need to book a consultation to get an exact price, searching and knowing the pros and cons first hand, never really hurts, plus it’s free. I even found out that here in the US it’s estimated to cost roughly around $235 per session thanks to Webmd‘s informative article.
It’s almost goodbye lady ‘stache and no hairy legs or arms for me folks, and I’m kinda feeling happy about it.
See, I did tell you it would be a long hairy subject.
But onto the fourth on my list…
Get my taxes filed early for once
I know I’m not the only one guilty of procrastination, especially when it comes to filing taxes. I used to outsource the task to a CPA, but lately it seems like doing taxes has become a little less complicated with all of the online tax tools and programs readily available. Even better, most of these programs are free so I might just file taxes on my own this year.
Who knows, maybe I’ll be lucky enough to get a refund this year. More often than not, I find that I’m paying back taxes rather than enjoying a nice little return. Either way, the goal here is to get my taxes done early rather than pushing it off until the filing deadline.
Blogging Priorities
Blogging has become a part of my daily routine, and it does feel like a job now more than anything else, with more responsibilities popping up. I still have love for blogging and will never deny that this has opened up many amazing opportunities for me including friends I’ve gained along the way.
But there’s one thing I’ve learned about blogging in the last year or so, if you want to up your game in the blogosphere, you need be prepared, schedule things and most of all, invest.
December is such a crazy month and my workstation is covered with things that need to be posted! I’m sure if you’re following me on Instagram or Facebook, you will see that I’ve been posting regularly. So the goal is, keep on top of the game! Become better than ever. And don’t worry, I will still be posting more on tips and a few creative inspiration. I’m just scheduling things accordingly these days and making sure I’m not spamming your inbox. Yes, I don’t like spam either.
This isn’t half of my list but I realized, baby steps. Slowly but surely. Now then, I’m off to do more of the Rhythm Kung Fu on Wii Fit 🙂 How about you?
Q: What’s in your list you can’t wait to tick off?
