Paula Dorf Ecstasy is defined as your versatile, multi-tasker makeup product that would reduce our daily agony of carrying so much stuff in our handbag!
I was excited to get chosen to review this beauty product because multitasking is my thing . It’s your lipstick, blusher and eyeshadow in this portable stick that could practically go with you anywhere instead of having multiple products to do the job. I like the concept since if I can help it, I prefer to have less items in my cosmetic bag but expect for them to do more. If that makes sense.

In case you’re unaware of this brand, Paula Dorf’s makeup philosophy is to empower women and is captured best in their signature phrase: Become your own makeup artist®.
They’ve been on many spotlight scenes and is famous for unique “trick” products that offer solutions to every woman’s makeup concerns, such as Transformer® (from eye shadow to liquid liner), Perfect Illusion® for lips (ends feathering lips), Perfect Illusion® for eyes (smoothes skin), Perfect Primer® (keeps foundation fresh), Enhancer® baby eyes (brightens eyes) and Clean-Up Stick® (erases makeup mistakes). Although I’ve encountered this brand before through their nail polish collection, this is my first with their color cosmetics.
Paula Dorf Perfect Color offers five flattering shades (to suit all skin tones) including Ecstasy, Angel, Candy Apple, Innocence and Sensous and retails for $32.
Ecstasy could easily become your cheeks best friend with its rosy pink hue. It’s described to create subtle shimmering accents with a creamy texture, which I can agree to a degree. The texture or creaminess however, changes depending on the temperature so you might find this to be harder to apply in colder months than in Spring or Summer. I was actually a little disappointed in its overall performance and I think it must be because I had set such high expectation of what this product can do.
- First, when applying the product from the stick I find it harder to see what I’m doing because the size is bigger than your standard lipstick. Yes, size matters here. I resort to using a lip brush to avoid the mess. The miniature glitter particles are not so in your face or something you’ll spot from a mile away, but it’s visible enough to bother me a little.
Fits nicely in this pouch storage for my mini brushes.
I’m very picky when it comes to the glitters in my makeup products and majority of the time, it will be a miss rather than a hit on my list.
- Second, when applying this on my skin I feel that it drags rather than glides. Was it because of the freezing temperature? I have no idea. So to do the blush job, I had to use my clean fingers and the same goes when applying this as an eyeshadow. Pink is a shade I’m not afraid to apply on my eyelids but it’s very rare to be incorporated into my day or night look all the time. I tend to go for darker and warmer shades like brown or deep burgundy. Smoky eyes, anyone? Although, if you’re looking for a Spring-inspired, sweet approach, then by all means go for this.
- Lastly, it has this peculiar smell that I can only describe as “waxy” . Thank goodness it doesn’t linger on longer after application.
Overall, as a lipstick, Ecstasy is lightweight and has a satin-feel, while pigmentation is not bad and the color is buildable. Just a heads up that when the color fades completely, you’ll just be left with tiny glitters explosion. If you have dry lips, I highly recommend you use a lip balm or primer first as it this tends to feel drier on my lips and noticed that it accentuates lines I never knew I had! As a blush, I like that it gives you the right amount of ‘rosy cheeks’, which is a great accompaniment in a no-makeup look, while I’ve yet to persuade myself to wear this as an eyeshadow.
I think this pretty much sums up on how I feel about this product. You, on the other hand, might love or hate it or feel so-so about it with the price tag as another factor. If you’re looking for a beauty product that does it all, then this might be it. In the end, it all comes down to your preference and experience.
Have you tried any of Paula Dorf’s products? What do you think about this multitasker?
