HiMirror Plus has taken your most valuable beauty tool and transformed it into your personal at-home beauty consultant.
Can you imagine doing your entire skin care and makeup routine without the use of a mirror? I can’t! How would you apply the right amount of foundation? Blend for the perfect contour effect or get your eyebrows on fleek?
More than applying makeup, we girls use our mirrors to see what is actually going on with our skin throughout the day. Whether it’s on a wall or a compact one we stash in our handbags. Simply speaking, a mirror is one of our valuable possessions (along with our smartphones, of course).
HiMirror Plus combines the simple task of reflecting who we are with a state of the art Skin Analyzing Engine, creating the world’s first smart beauty mirror. Using a hi-resolution camera, it can take a picture and assess your current skin condition, identifying everything from dark spots, wrinkles, fine lines, hydration levels, and much more.

Easy-peasy installation
Setting up the HiMirror Plus was easy with the included bracket and screws, of which there are only three to drill into the wall. It came with a cardboard assister, which allowed me to mark where I pre-drilled for the main center screw, with a red line showing where my eye line would be. Once the bracket was drilled on, the HiMirror Plus attached securely. The whole process took less than ten minutes.
If you have a large mirror or glass surface available, the adhesive backing provided can be used with the bracket, if you’d rather not drill. It’s robust enough to support the HiMirror Plus, which weighs less than six pounds.
Once powered on, activating the HiMirror Plus was as simple as creating a social media account. I downloaded the HiMirror Plus to my iPhone (there is an Android version as well), followed a few steps and generated a QR code, which you hold up for the camera to scan.
Quick tip: make sure you have your WiFi password ready before activation.
User-friendly & Responsiveness
You control HiMirror Plus by using a combination of hand gestures, which are recognized by a sensor just underneath the mirror itself. There was a bit of learning curve when trying to navigate the menus at first, but a recent software update improved the user experience and is now more responsive.
I did wonder at first why didn’t they just make HiMirror Plus touchscreen, but then the video tutorial explained how using hand gestures allowed use even when you have makeup or skin care on your hands.
Another area that was improved was the act of taking one’s picture for assessment. Before, you would have to do your darndest to have your face perfectly aligned with an oval diagram on the mirror, all while keeping still and using a hand gesture to take the shot.
Now, the oval is replaced with a simple square, with a light that turns red or green to let you know when you’re at the right distance from the camera. Once the light turns green, hold your position and after a three-second countdown, snap! Your picture is automatically taken, and HiMirror Plus begins analyzing.
Does this thing work??
In my first analyses, HiMirror Plus recognized that I have some dark spots, dryness, and redness around my cheeks. “This thing actually works!” I exclaimed to my husband, as I had just started using a whole skin care routine specifically to address redness and skin irritation.
All the results are given a percentage, letting you know what areas are in dire need of help or areas that can be improved with specific beauty products. HiMirror Plus keeps records of past assessments to display your progress and, with the Virtual Beauty Box features, can tell you how useful a particular product has been.
With so many choices out there, it’s great to be able to pinpoint which skin care products matter to you.
On the go beauty consultant
Want to take your beauty consultant while on the go? HiSkin is the answer. This portable, stone-shaped device (works for both HiMirror versions), uses a combination of electronic and diffusion photons to provide skin analysis on your hydration and melanin (dark spots, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation) levels while enjoying your cup of coffee or taking a lunch break.
Highlight
The Smart Makeup Ambient Light quickly became one of my favorite features of HiMirror Plus. By using an array of LED lights to simulate different lighting conditions, with names such as Sunset View and Restaurant/Party Venus, it will show you how your makeup will appear in each scenario, helping you find the right colors for the occasion.
The HiMirror Plus home screen is very much like the weather app on your smartphone, with large graphics showing the day’s weather forecast, the UV index, in addition to indoor temperature and humidity as well.
This or that?
You have two technologically packed mirrors to choose from, the HiMirror ($299) and the HiMirror Plus ($369). Both come equipped with the hi-res camera, hand gestures, and skin analyzing engine. The HiMirror Plus gives you more storage for pictures and extra accounts, extended WiFi range, and the LED ambient lighting. You can also get the HiSkin device for $49.
